The first season of La Piloto centers on Yolanda Cadena, whose dream is to become an airplane pilot. She is taught everything about aviation by John Lucio, an airplane pilot who runs an airplane company with his brother Oscar, using it as a front for illicit business. Yolanda's best friend Zulima Montes works for Central America Air as a stewardess. Yolanda's aides include Lizbeth Álvarez and Amanda Cuadrado, both stewardesses at Central America Air, with Amanda also helping Yolanda commit illicit business. Yolanda's mother is Estela Lesmes, and her aunt is Rosalba Cadena. The Lucio brothers' operations are supported by Arley Mena, Amanda's lover and Guillermo's father, and Zeky Gilmas, the main manager of Central America Air and partner of the Lucio brothers. Colombian guerrilla lieutenant Arnoldo Santamaría is involved, and Olivia Nieves serves as Yolanda's chief of security, helping with the use of weapons. DEA agent Dave Mejía tries to imprison the Lucio brothers and eliminate Central America Air, assisted by Mónica Ortega. Recurring characters include corrupt DEA agent Dean Simpson, Olivia's brother Cristian Nieves, corrupt commander Capitán Argüelles, and others. Special guest star Antonio de la Vega appears as Yolanda's father, Ramón Cadena.
